Commercial Cowboys

Just causually watching TV this last weekend and I saw 2 greats of rodeo supporting products on TV. The first was legendary cowboy Ty Murray hawking toasted sandwiches for Quiznos.

The other rodeo cowboy was bull rider Owen Washburn, on a commercial for TheraSeed with some nice footage of him riding a bull out of the chutes.

I was kind of surprised a little to see these guys on TV commercials, which I think says a little about how rodeo contestants have been spotlighted these days.

Since the whole country music / cowboy craze of the mid-90's there hasn't been enough marketing of rodeo and cowboys in mass media. I think that rodeo needs to profile their contestants more and once businesses understand how loyal rodeo fans are to companies that support rodeo, I think you would have them lining up to have rodeo cowboys (and girls) pitching their products.
