Rodeo Feud Down Under
Friday April 15, 2005
It seems there's been a battle brewing among our rodeo brothers and sisters in Australia. A controversy has erupted over where exactly the "Rodeo Capital of Australia" actually is.
The cities of Mount Isa and Warwick (both in Queensland) are in a feud over the coveted title. Mount Isa has moved to make the claim official and Warwick ain't too happy.
Read the Full Story from the Townsville Bulletin.
As far as my opinion goes (and remember I'm just an American who doesn't know anything), I believe that the Warwick Show and Rodeo has a more legitimate claim to the title, being it's the older and larger of the two.
However, in the Mount Isa Rodeo's defense, they are only trying to better market and benefit their rodeo. Who could fault them for that?
My solution, Warwick officially claims another rippin' slogan, which they are doing. Besides the "Most Famous" slogan, how about the "Oldest & Richest Rodeo in Australia," or "Australia's Original Rodeo," something to that effect?
The good news is, there won't be any lawyerin' up and there's enough excitement and fans for both great events. Once the trail dust settles, I'm sure they'll shake hands, mount up and rodeo!
What's your great slogan for the Warwick Rodeo?
