The PBR did things differently this year in term of their Bull of the Year Award. In years past the bull riders would vote on their favorite bull and that would be it. This year the vote determined the top 5 and the bulls would compete on the arena dirt for the top spot.

The top 5 bulls were:

• Chicken on a Chain - Robinson / Tedesco / Larry the Cable Guy
• Big Bucks - Frontier / Teague Bucking Bills
• White Magic - Diamond G Rodeos Inc.
• Scene of the Crash - Frontier / Teague / Ron White
• Cat Daddy - Diamond S Bucking Bulls

The bull scoring the highest average rides at the end of the PBR World Finals is the Bull of the Year.

I think this new system is an excellent way to crown the PBR's top bull and is a perfect way to highlight the athletic ability of these awesome bulls. Of course you might argue that a few bad outs might ruin a bull's chances but the reality is that any one of these bulls deserve the top honor. To have the bulls decide it on their own captures the competitive spirit of the PBR.
