Mauney rides Bones takes home $20,000 bounty
Saturday February 14, 2009
Mauney said he could and he did ... ride Bones that is. The bull had bucked off its rider 13 times previous but could not throw J.B. Mauney to the dirt in Oklahoma City.
Mauney scored 93.5 points and took home the bounty money of $20,000 that Tom Teague, the owner of Bones, had offered to Guilherme Marchi and then to Mauney after Marchi failed to make it past the three second mark.
Mauney had this to say, "This weekend has been hyped up and I've been honest with everyone from the beginning. I treated this bull like every other bull and I expected to ride him. I just kept my hand shut and held on. He went to the right and I thought he'd switch it up, but he didn't and just kept on coming. It all worked out, and now I'm $20,000 richer."
