Where do the animals used in rodeo come from?

By Ralph Clark, About.com

Question: Where do the animals used in rodeo come from?

Answer: They come from all over the country. The people who provide the animals to rodeos are known as stock contractors.

In the early days of rodeo, ranch stock that was particularly rough to ride was used in rodeo competitions. In this modern era, horses and bull are being bred for the specific purpose of their bucking ability. With the advent of the "Born to Buck" program, horses and bulls are getting tougher, stronger, and harder to ride.

What this means is that we can expect great rodeo action to continue well into the future.
