Are women allowed to compete in events other than barrel racing?

From Ralph Clark, for About.com

Question: Are women allowed to compete in events other than barrel racing?
Answer: Yes and no.
In college and high school rodeo, all events are open to both genders. While women have yet to break into other events on the national scene, at other levels of rodeo women are represented and can compete.

I went to rodeo school for bareback riding and we had a female in our class. I talked to her about the seeming lack of women in certain events and she equated it to lack of interest mostly.
Hopefully any woman who wants to make a run at something like bull riding (or anything else for that matter) gets the full opportunity to do so. Opportunities do exist for women, but in a much more limited capacity.
