  • 3/16- The Canadian Professional Rodeo Association has elected Dale Leschiutta as their new president. He is the first president who isn't a former rodeo competitor although he has plenty of organizational experience in the sport.
NOTE: Like star-crossed lovers, the PRCA and CPRA have reconciled their disagreements. One of the first duties of the new pres. will be to hammer out a long-term agreement with the PRCA.

  • 3/12- Mike White suffered a broken back in the bonus round of the PBR's Cabela's Classic (Mar. 10-12). He will be out at least three months. This is another injury in a long list suffered by White.

  • 3/4- Bullfighter Rob Smets fractured his vertebrae in the arena at the PBR's Reno event. 2006 was to be Smets last year in the PBR, having announced his retirement earlier in the year. He will be out of action pending further evaluation in Texas.

  • 3/2- Cowboy legend Ty Murray will be featured in Esquire Magazine this month as a model of American style (and I thought the cowboy hat would never come back in style!).

  • 3/2-The PRCA's Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show (Fort Worth, TX.) broke all kinds of records. Attendance for the event reached 955,800 topping the previous record set in 2001. Livestock auctions, rodeo entries, and sales also broke previous records.

  • 2/15- B.J. Kramps announced his retirement from the PBR last month. He is 28-years old and has invested his $240,000+ in earnings from the PBR in real estate and done quite well. He plans to continue in real estate (and help fellow bull riders invest as well) and start a family with his wife. Congrats on a career well done!
