2006 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo

Round 4 Highlights
Sunday, December 3rd

Bareback Riding:

Will Lowe continues his domination not giving Any Martinez or Wes Stevenson any room to make a move.

The only buck-off the night was Paul Jones on Moulin Rouge. This mare out of the Growney Brothers string is just plain awesome.

Round 4 Bareback Results:
1 Will Lowe - 84.5 points on Parlor Game
2 Chris Harris - 83.5 on Broken Dreams
3 Cimmaron Gerke - 82.5 on Painted Feather
4 Ryan Gray - 82 on Boogers Pet
5 Jess Davis - 81.5 on One Eyed Jack 6 Andy Martinez - 81 on Multi Chem Baby Doll
6 Royce Ford - 81 on Sports News

Steer Wrestling:

The steer wrestlers really turned it on in Round 4. Stockton Graves tuned in the quickest time of this year's NFR, and Dean Gorsuch needs to be thankful for the back-up stopwatch as an electronically mistaken 4.1 turned into a 3.7 for 3rd place in the round.

Trevor Knowles drew a steer that turned his run into a WWE wrestling match rather than a steer wrestling match.

Round 4 Steer Wrestling Results:
1 Stockton Graves - 3.3 seconds
2 Joey Bell Jr. - 3.4
3 Dean Gorsuch - 3.7
4 Luke Branquinho - 4.1
4 Ronnie Fields - 4.1
6 Gabe Ledoux - 4.2
6 Jason Miller - 4.2
6 Lee Graves - 4.2

Team Roping:

Who knows what is going on in the minds of the team ropers? The night didn't start of well when Joe Beaver and Cole Bigbee, who were the first up and received a no-time (their second one of the NFR).

Travis Tryan and Jhett Johnson made a horrible run and things got worse when the their steer went back into the roper's box. The time-out whistle blew much to the chagrin of a visibly angry Travis Tryan.

Garrett Tonozzi and Brady Minor got called for a questionable crossfire penalty which turned a winning 4.0 second run into a 34.0 run.

Needless to say it was another rough night, and even tougher to watch.

Round 4 Team Roping Results:
1 Jay Adams / Randon Adams - 4.2 seconds
2 Speed Williams / Clay O’Brien Cooper - 4.3
3 Charly Crawford / Cody Hintz – 5.0
4 Trevor Brazile / Rich Skelton – 5.1
5 Nick Sartain / Shannon Frascht – 6.5
6 Shain Sproul / Cory Petska – 9.6

Saddle Bronc Riding:

The bronc riders are looking hurt and it isn't even half way yet. Glen O'Neill got two re-ride options until Lounge Lizzard Plus and a 71-points put him on the board, but was way out of the money.

Dan Mortensen got a lucky break after being bucked off by Seat Sale who tossed him to the ground without a flank strap. Needless to say Mortensen had the option of a re-ride and took it but bucked of off Top Gun as well.

Round 4 Saddle Bronc Results:
1 Chad Ferley – 86 points on Sams Town
2 Cody DeMoss – 85.5 on Booger Head
3 JJ Elshere - 83 on Black Bart
4 Rod Hay – 82 points on Barn Dance
5 Jeff Willert - 80 on Order Alley[br 6 Cody Wright - 79 on Rain Maker

Tie-down Roping:

The was a log jam at the top as 3 ropers split first place. Joe Beaver mad a costly mistake by breaking the barrier and effectively taking himself out of first place in the average. Fred Whitfield's run started good but he missed his wraps and put himself out of the money.

Round 4 Tie-Down Results:
1 Cade Swor - 7.4 seconds
1 Cody Ohl – 7.4
1 Jerome Schneeberger – 7.4
4 Matt Shiozawa - 8.5
4 Trevor Brazile - 8.5
6 Scott Kormos – 8.8

Barrel Racing:

Brandie Halls won the round with a blown stirrup. The barrel horses are beginning to get a feel for the arena at the Thomas and Mack so look for times to inch down even more perhaps.

Round 4 Barrel Racing Results:
seconds
1 Brandie Halls - 13.77 seconds
2 Tana Poppino - 13.94
3 Kelly Maben - 13.96
4 Brittany Pozzi - 13.97
4 Codi Baucom - 13.97
6 Mary Burger - 13.98

Bull Riding:

An uneven pen of bulls matched the riders on Sunday and only two qualified rides were the result. Dustin Elliott shaved his beard in an attempt to change his luck but it didn't help. The most gymnastic buck off of the night goes to B.J. Schumacher, who did a flip bucking off of Seminole. D.J. Domangue lost a tussle with Rapid Fire Xchange and had to be stretchered out of the arena. Jarrod Craig had a scary close call as Mean Machine's back hoof glanced of the face mask of his helmet.

Round 4 Bull Riding Results:
1 Wesley Silcox - 90.5 points on Golden Ghost
2 J.C. Bean - 85.5 points on Whirly Gig

Next stop is Round 5, the halfway point of the NFR...
