The NEW Professional Bull Riders World Cup

To take place June 8-10 in Queensland, Australia (ticket information). The new PBR World Cup will be a team competition in which riders from 5 countries will compete for their share of a $100,000 prize. Each team will field 5 riders from their respective countries.

The 5 teams competing in the first PBR World Cup are:

TEAM U.S.A
Riders - Mike Lee, J.B. Mauney, Brian Canter, Kasey Hayes, and Luke Snyder
Coach - Michael Gaffney

TEAM CANADA
Riders - Scott Schiffner, Tyler Thomson, Jesse Torkelson, Aaron Roy, and Justin Volz
Team Captain - Cody Snyder (not competing)

TEAM BRAZIL
Riders - Adriano Moraes, Guilherme Marchi, Paulo Crimber, Robson Palermo, and Renato Nunes
Adriano Moraes will serve as Captain

TEAM MEXICO
Riders - Rocky McDonald, Gerardo Venegas, Hugo Pedrero, Adrian Ferreiro, and Francisco Morales
Rocky McDonald will serve as Captain

TEAM AUSTRALIA*
Riders - Brendon Clark, Jared Farley
Team Captain - Troy Dunn

* Australia's team will be determined after the Troy Dunn International (May 24 & 25) which will serve as a qualifying event.

The PBR World Cup will be an annual event and take place in Brazil next year (2008) and the United States in 2009. The event will be televised and when the dates are announced, you will find them here on About Rodeo.

Rodeo Guide's Opinion:
I think that this event will be a great addition to the PBR schedule and introduce a little national pride into the sport. I really like the idea of moving it around the world and this should give the PBR and bull riding some great exposure. I only wish I could be there for the inaugural event. Once again my hat is off to the brains at the PBR!
