The Wrangler ProRodeo Tour was started in 2000 as a showcase for the top competitors and rodeos in the PRCA. The tour is divided into 2 sections, the Winter Series and the Summer Series.
Each section makes a 12-city tour with the final round of a major rodeo serving as the tour round in which cowboys and Cowgirls compete for tour points to qualify for the Summer Series championship, the Pace Challenge.
The tour stops are televised and feature the best in rodeo from the stock, to event, to the rodeo cowboys.
The 12-stops on the 2006 Wrangler ProRodeo Summer Tour are:
- June 24 Reno Rodeo (Event Results) in Reno, NV.
- July 4 Prescott Frontier Days (Event Results) in Prescott, AZ. - Tour Debut
- July 16 Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo (Event Results)in Colorado Springs, CO. - Returns to the Tour
- July 23 The Califonia Rodeo (Event Results) in Salinas, CA.
- July 29 Cheyenne Frontier Days (Event Results) in Cheyenne, WY.
- Aug. 6 Dodge City Round-Up (Event Results) in Dodge City, KS.
- Aug. 12 Farm-City Pro Rodeo (Event Results) in Hermiston, OR.
- Aug. 19 Caldwell Night Rodeo (Event Results) in Caldwell, ID.
- Sept. 9 Ellensburg Rodeo (Event Results) in Ellensburg, WA.
- Sept. 10 Puyallup Pro Rodeo (Event Results) in Puyallup, WA.
- Sept. 16 Pendleton Round-Up (Event Results) in Pendleton, OR.
- Sept. 23 New Mexico State Fair Rodeo (Event Results) in Albuquerque, NM. - Tour Debut
The Summer Tour Finale is where the 12 top contestants in points per event qualify to compete. There are regular rounds, a semifinal round and a final round.
Winners of the Pace Chute-Out, along with the winners of the Summer Finale go on to compete in the Championship Finale the crowning event of the whole ProRodeo Tour.
