Saddle Bronc of the Year Blood Brother to Retire

Sunday November 30, 2008
In a story reported by Kathy Brown of the Gillette News Record, the 14-year-old bucking horse and 2008 Saddle Bronc of the Year Blood Brother (a title shared with Cool Alley of Kesler Championship Rodeo), owned by Burch Rodeo will retire at the end of the 2008 NFR.

The small firecracker of a horse has taken bronc riders such as Billy Etbauer, J.J. Elshere, and Taos Muncy to the pay window consistently over the 11 years he's been bucking. His owners Chad, Matt and Max Burch have decided to retire the horse to their ranch because he's getting a bit stiff and the travel is beginning to wear on him, which is an excellent illustration as to how well these animals are loved and cared for by stock contractors and cowboys alike. Blood Brother is one excellent horse and he will be missed.

I love the rodeo, and I sincerely hope when you retire Blood Brother you will not send him to the slaughter house because he can no longer earn money. He has certainly earned time in the pasture. regards melba

When they retire bucking horses and no longer wish to keep them Ty Murry has the option to buy. Ty has a large Bucking Horse Cemetary where many legands have been burried. When a horse is retired and purchased by Ty Murry he cares for them till they pass and lets their legand live on.
