The Bottom Line
The bottom line is that this an absolute, no questions asked, must read for any serious rodeo or bull riding fan.
The book reads like a behind-the-scenes, meet your favorite rider type of book but delivers a truthful and hard-hitting expose on the politics of bull riding that most fans are completely unaware of.
Very few things surprise me in what you hear behind the scenes but this book had me asking "Why didn't I hear all this?" Time for me to call and update my sources!

Guide Review - Fried Twinkies Buckle Bunnies & Bull Riders: A Year Inside the PBR Tour
Fried Twinkies Buckle Bunnies & Bull Riders: A Year Inside the PBR Tour follows in detail the 2004 season of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Tour. Each chapter details a stop along the 27-city tour that culminates with the PBR Championship event in Las Vegas. The spotlight is on bull riders, Adriano Moraes, Justin McBride and Mike Lee, as each ride for their own reasons toward a common goal. A million dollars, a gold buckle and bull riding stardom.
With an engaging and easy-to-read style, Peter takes us deep into the workings of the PBR, the upstart tour who 10 years ago took bull riding successfully out of traditional rodeo to a stand alone sport.
But don't let the easy going humor of Josh Peter's writing style fool you, there are some eye opening, dirty laundry moments in Fried Twinkies... and these will be sure to surprise many hard-core fans, myself included.
One of these is the interesting part of the book that details the split between the PBR and one of bull riding's biggest names, Tuff Hedeman, and the politics that come with a growing sport.
Peter doesn't pull any punches and exposes some of the cowboys more than colorful language and habits, so be warned.
Author Josh Peter has done a rare thing indeed, written an honest, no-holds barred, entertaining and real-life look at one of the greatest sports on the planet...bull riding!
