"I have been living my dream out for 20 years now," said Professional Rodeo Bullfighter and Barrelman Duane Reichert of New Underwood, South Dakota. This very outspoken and funny man gave a wonderful Behind the Cutes with a Barrelman demonstration on Saturday, April 9th, during the Reopening of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Hall Of Fame and Museum of World Champions.
"I love pink, if you couldn't tell," he said, while dressing himself in front of a crowd. Adorned in bright pink hat, fuzzy pink chaps and pink dancing tights, Duane wowed the crown with live animals and interesting rodeo facts.The Hall of Fame featured many new displays for rodeo fans. Interactive TV screens allow you to watch WNFR runs and rides with the touch of the screen and learn facts of world champs. A new big screen TV will feature rodeo history and information.
Many world champions attended the event including Kelly Timberman, Kelly Kamanski, Guy Allen, Donny Gay and Charles Sampson.
Children participated in stick horse races, face panting and roping demos. Live music was provided by the Flying W Wranglers. A live rodeo demonstration was provide and featured saddle bronc and bull riding by local cowboys. Stock was provided by Cervi Championship Rodeo.
Volunteer organizations were thanked and included the National Western Stock Show, Rocky Mountain Horse Association and the National Little Britches Rodeo Association.
John Davis, on behalf of Binions Bucking Horse Sale donated $37,500 to help reopen the hall; he also gave a check of $7,000 to sponsor the chutes at the National Finals Rodeo. Many other donations have been given to the hall including one of $50,000 from the PBR.
The hall will now be open for visitors (closed Monday and Tuesday). Hours are 9-5 and admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children, PRCA members get in free. April will feature discounts for military and local residents.
